Big Data Systems Engineer

Type: Contract Location: Dublin, Hybrid Salary: €450 - €550 p/d

What’s involved:

The Big Data System Engineer is responsible for the management of the Data Platform and its system components.
Working alongside other ICT teams (hardware, cybersecurity), the Big Data System Engineer implements Role Base Access Control models for the platform’s users.
The Big Data System Engineer is responsible for the implementation of Data Protection and Data Security policies on Cloudera.
Monitor and manage health of the overall infrastructure (Cloudera CDP)
Monitor and manage security of the overall infrastructure (Cloudera), including encryption of data at rest and in movement, Kerberos authentication and authorisation, etc.
Implement, review and support Data Guardianship and data access policies on Cloudera.

What you need:

In-depth knowledge and experience in monitoring and managing Big Data systems, pipelines, architectures and datasets;
In-depth knowledge and experience of Linux OS system architecture (e.g. system services framework, file-system topology and layout, logs access and monitoring, etc.)
Hands-on experience in managing Linux OS and building automations via bash scripting
Python (or equivalent) and SQL basic programming skills;
Hands-on experience in working with databases;
Practical experience in root cause analysis on data and processes to identify opportunities for improvements;
Experience with version control systems such as GIT;·
